I’m going to be making a documentary about the app called randonautica, this documentary will be displaying the dangers of these new “mystery” and exploring apps. The main purpose of this app is done by calculating an area in a place around your location and then putting down a pinpoint on the map for the users to go there and explore, these areas given can be decided on the topics you have put in such as “mystery” “spiritual” and “abandoned”. This will be included many of the case linked around this app which are disturbing and need to be displayed so people can avoid getting into situations like these. The main mysteries revolving around these apps include leading people to abandoned and dangerous areas where people can be trespassed, once in these places people have found dead bodies, human bones/remains, missing people, ritual and gang ears where sacrifices are given etc. The main reason this app became popular was because of people wanting to find out mysteries, but due to the locations picked many people also got arrested as well as have difficulty finding their ways out of these areas.

My main target audience for this documentary is people who enjoy watching other crime documentary which have mysteries which people have been waiting to find out and uncover. In this case it will be for younger teens/adults to millennial, this is because it was about an app which became popular because of social media. Many people older than that age range wouldn’t have heard about it and those that are younger may watch this will be de influenced from getting the app due to the dangers listed.  The reason I have researched the documentaries I have is because on shows how mystery can be portrayed due to missing people and unsolved mysteries which links to how this app operates and who runs it to be making people go to these dangerous areas. Similarly, the next one is about apps and the dangers which many apps can hold as anyone can have access to anything on the internet.

Due to this being a graphic documentary and mad for more mature and older people as they are able to hand this information. However, for the ads they need to be suitable for all ages. This is due to the rules set out by the ASA (advertising standards authority) meaning any images shouldn’t cause younger viewers to be stressed or disturbed by the documentary ad. So, in this case nothing graphic or disturbing will be shown but there will still be hints that people have gone missing and how this app isn’t good. There can be police tape, police cars or people linked to the story before going missing. This documentary isn’t promoting the app and will be represented in a negative way to make people avoid it. Contrastingly, people that are or have used the app won’t be presented negatively due to them going through negative experiences and may even have suffered due to this app.

For tv broadcasting, this documentary will be shown past 9pm. There will be information and images which aren’t suitable for kids so broadcasting at 9pm will minimise the risk of younger people seeing it due to them being in bed. As well as allowing the target audience to see it at the right time after their wok and dinner and it’s the peak time where people will turn on tv to watch shows they can’t have on when kids are around. Similarly, older teenagers will also be able to see it who most likely know this app as it became so popular on apps like tik Tok and Instagram.

The main design of the ads will include locations such as forests in dark and dim lighting, warning signs and police tape. As well as those using the app in the forest with the randonautica pinpoint screen showing on their phones. Nothing graphic but the point still gets across, looking at the poster you will be able to feel the gloomy and eerie atmosphere. Compared to the actual documentary I could get a bit more creative as I wouldn’t have to worry about it being shown to the younger audience, still with similar ideas but with maybe suitcases, ritual scenes etc.
